Mayukuyuku (meaning the water
hitting rocks) is situated between the
lightly wooded tree line and the
Kafue riverbank.
We are just downstream a number of
small rapids hence our name and we
face a small island, so there are
spectacular views in many directions,
this often gives you good wildlife
sightings when in the camp.
This small, intimate camp has just 4
luxury en-suite permanent tents under
thatched roofs with their own
verandahs and hammocks, each one
overlooking the river.
Our adjoining bathrooms are open to
the stars, have hot showers and flushing
toilets.
Nearly all our structures have been built
using natural materials collected from
outside the park, this gives the camp a
truly rustic, old style "safari feel".
Packages & Accommodation
An open sided dining room
with a small lounge and bar
for an alfresco dining
experience.
We only serve fresh produce
prepared by our chefs with a big emphasis on fresh fruit and vegetables,
plus Zambian sourced meat and fish.
We use Zambian products whenever possible.
For motoring visitors or backpackers, we have a lovely shady campsite
on the opposite side of a small, dry riverbed with river view from each
pitch. There are 3 pitches at present with nearby shared bathrooms
open to the stars.
We supply firewood free of charge and there is a staff member to assist
you. For those without tents, we have lightweight tents for hire on
request. The campsite can take approximately 25 guests.
The camp also has a small library with reference books to read while
with us, as well as a gift shop with local crafts. We have battery
charging facilities and email on request.
